This Thursday (18), the leader of the opposition in Congress, senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), said that the country does not live in a state of democratic normality. The statement was published in a video on the parliamentarian’s social networks, who criticized the search and seizure authorized by the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, against the leader of the opposition in the Chamber, Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ), for alleged involvement in the acts of 8/1.

“He (Jordy) was not woken up by the police due to a complaint regarding embezzlement of public resources or corruption. He was agreed because he represents a segment of the population that thinks differently from those who currently govern the country. It was agreed because, according to the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, we have an idea regarding the possibility that Carlos Jordy has a connection with someone who on January 8th took a stand against the government in that sad spectacle of depredation of buildings public”, said the senator in an excerpt of the video published on the social network.

Marinho also said that the “permanent exceptionalization of the Constitution” cannot be accepted.

“The inviolability of the parliamentary mandate is a pillar of democracy. We cannot accept exceptional acts as natural as a new normal”, wrote the senator when informing that he has already requested a meeting with the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) and with the president of the STF, minister Luís Roberto Barroso.

Earlier, when commenting on the case, federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) accused the installation of the CPI of abuse of authority to investigate abuses by ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
