Council investigates doctors who made fun of Marina Silva – 05/11/2023 – Environment

The CRM (Regional Council of Medicine) of Acre opened an investigation to investigate messages published in a group called “United Doctors”, in which participants mocked the health of Minister Marina Silva. The holder of the Environment and Climate Change portfolio had Covid and was hospitalized at InCor (Instituto do Coração), in São Paulo, on Saturday (6), with flu-like symptoms and sinusitis.

The disease did not affect Marina’s lungs, and her condition remained stable. She was discharged at 9:30 am this Wednesday (10).

In the messages, doctors make comments like “Did she not get the vaccine?” and “Kkk I hope the Covid viruses are ok”.

“In view of the release of information by the press about comments supposedly made by doctors who work in the state of Acre regarding the hospitalization of the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, the Regional Council of Medicine of Acre (CRM-AC) determined the opening investigation to investigate the facts”, said the CRM, in a note.

The calculation will follow the criteria of the Ethical-Professional Process and Medical Ethics codes.

“On this occasion, the CRM-AC also wishes a brief recovery to Minister Marina Silva and all patients affected by Covid-19”, said the body.

A Sheet sought doctors Grace Monica Alvim Coelho, former secretary of health in Acre in the management of Jorge Viana (PT) from 1999 to 2004, by email, and Nilton Chaves, by telephone, but had no response. The report did not locate the doctor Jorge Lucas da Fonseca. The trio exchanged the leaked messages on Sunday (7).

After the circulation of a photo of the group with the dialogue on Sunday, Sindmed-AC, the union of doctors in Acre, said that the only official group of professionals is called “Affiliates” and that political demonstration is prohibited.

“The members of this union also offer solidarity to the Minister of the Environment Marina Silva and wish her a good recovery”, he said in a note.

On Monday (8), Federal Deputy Benedita da Silva (PT-RJ) asked, on Twitter, to punish doctors within the scope of Justice and the CFM (Federal Council of Medicine) for their comments.

“There is no way for us not to be outraged by this situation and remember Marina Silva’s hospitalization”, he wrote.

The CFM said, in a note, that it is a judgment instance. Thus, I could not comment on the case to maintain the exemption.

On Tuesday morning (9), federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR), president of the PT, defended the minister of what she called “misogynistic debauchery by Bolsonarist doctors”.

“It is infamous to see health professionals with so much hatred that it usurps even the basic principle of medicine,” Gleisi wrote on Twitter. The minister thanked the support in response.

Marina returned to Brasilia on Wednesday night and is resting at home. “Thank you for every kind message and for all the prayers and cheering for my recovery,” she wrote on her Twitter page.

Marina will return to work next Monday (15).
