Coronel takes glue to ‘not freak out’ at the CPI of 1/8 – 06/27/2023 – Power

Army colonel Jean Lawand Júnior took a list of guidelines to the CPI on January 8, including “don’t freak out” and put on a “serene face”. The “glue” also suggests: feeding, not gesticulating, “no cagoete” (possible reference for not accusing colleagues), don’t lose emotions, hands together, prayer.

The military testifies to the CPI this Tuesday (27) as a witness. STF (Supreme Federal Court) Minister Cármen Lúcia understood that he should attend the session, but could remain silent, if he wanted, so as not to produce evidence against himself.

Lawand Junior’s instructions are attached to the inside of a black folder he brought to the commission. Throughout the deposition, the soldier resorted to papers that were inside and received guidance from his lawyers through notes.

The colonel came under the crosshairs of the CPI that investigates the invasion of the Three Powers after a Federal Police report on the cell phone of former President Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) main assistant, Colonel Mauro Cid.

Lewand is Cid’s main interlocutor in the messages highlighted by the PF and insistently asks the then aide-de-camp to guide Bolsonaro to strike a blow against democracy: “Convince 01 to save this country!”, he wrote in one of the conversations.

In testimony, Lawand Júnior denied that he suggested to Cid that Bolsonaro staged a coup d’état. The statements irritated federal deputies and senators and made some of them ask for the deponent’s arrest.

Lawand Júnior was also asked about the fact that he went to the CPI in a suit and tie. The colonel replied that he decided not to wear the military uniform on his own initiative — and not on the advice of the Army.

“I am not in uniform today because I reiterate that the messages exchanged with Lieutenant-Colonel Cid were from Citizen Jean with Citizen Cid”, he said. “No [recebi orientação], it was my initiative. I came in plainclothes to characterize well who was the colonel.”

Also active in the military, General Gustavo Henrique Dutra, former head of the CMP (Military Command of the Planalto), testified to the CPI of the Legislative Chamber in May in uniform. Colonel of the Military Police of the Federal District Jorge Eduardo Naime was also wearing the uniform of the corporation this Monday (26).
