British airlines British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are hosting a series of events to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III, which will take place next Saturday (6), and are expected to offer free surprise upgrades on selected routes this week.

The airline linked to Richard Branson, Virgin, is preparing to distribute special treats in all cabins. On the day of the coronation, upper-class passengers will be welcomed with a mini-bottle of Lanson Black Label Champagne, while everyone will be treated to popcorn specially created for the coronation.

British Airways says it hopes to give lucky customers “the experience of a lifetime” with free upgrades to its Premium and Upper Class cabins. In addition, the company will also give a complimentary bag of popcorn to all its customers on the day of the event.

Passengers will be able to munch on popcorn flavored with Eton Mess, a traditional English dessert, while watching the coronation live, streamed free of charge via the WiFi platform onboard the aircraft, according to the Paddle Your Own Kanoo website.

The last time British Airways made its free WiFi streaming service available was to allow passengers to watch the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II last September.

The coronation will be a celebratory event, and both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are planning to decorate check-in counters and airport lounges with royal-themed flags.

Heathrow Airport is also planning to get into the coronation mood with decorations hanging in terminals and personalized giveaways over the weekend. The airport informs that the coronation will be shown live on the screens of all its terminals.

Recently, as reported by Aeroin, Heathrow Airport wanted to rename Terminal 5 in honor of King Charles III. However, Buckingham Palace intervened, rejecting the plans.
