Corinthians x Palmeiras will have reinforced policing – 02/16/2023 – Daily life

Civilian and military police, metropolitan civil guards, representatives of the boards of Corinthians and Palmeiras, as well as members of organized supporters of the two clubs, gathered to deal with the security of the classic that takes place this Thursday (16), at 21:30, for the Paulista Championship .

According to the Military Police, those responsible for mobility in São Paulo, such as CET, subway, CPTM and SPTrans, were also present at the meeting held on Wednesday (15).

The fight between members of Mancha Alviverde and Gaviões da Fiel on the Greater São Paulo viaduct, in Ipiranga, south zone, in the early hours of Friday (10th), alerted the authorities. At least five people were rescued. Most with trauma to the head, arms and legs. A Palmeiras fan was shot in the face.

Among those present at the meeting was delegate Cesar Saad, responsible for Drade (Police Station for Repression of Sports Intolerance). Saad is responsible for investigating the fight, which he classified as an ambush by Palmeiras fans against Corinthians. On the alvinegro side, there were women and children inside the attacked buses.

“Yesterday I had a meeting with the two leaders of the supporters. Today, I am certain that everything will pass in peace. We will have police in strategic points of the capital”, he said.

The delegate stated that the police and city hall teams will meet at the CICC (Integrated Control and Command Center), where the capital is monitored through cameras, in the Bom Retiro neighborhood, in downtown São Paulo.

Saad also explained that he is going to set up a police station inside the stadium to record possible cases of violence.

The Wednesday meeting also included officials from the Paulista Football Federation, the entity responsible for the Paulista Championship.

Corinthians and Palmeiras face each other for the state at 21:30 in Itaquera, with the presence of only Corinthians fans, since in São Paulo there is a unique determination of fans in classics. The action took place just after the death of a man hours before the game between the two teams in April 2016.

In a note, the SSP (Secretary of Public Security) said that the reinforcement of territorial policing was established in the meeting with a focus on places of agglomeration, such as proximity to fan headquarters and public circulation, such as subway stations and bus stops.

In terms of internal policing, immediate external policing and escorting delegations, it will be carried out by the Specialized Troops of the 2nd Shock Police Battalion, which will employ 163 police officers.
