The match between Santos and Corinthians played this Wednesday (21), in Vila Belmiro, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship, was ended by referee Leandro Pedro Vuaden before the end of regular time after Santos fans threw flares on the lawn.
The home team trailed 2-0 when, 44 minutes into the second half, the referee understood that there were no more security conditions to continue the confrontation and declared the duel over.
Objects began to be thrown on the lawn in the 41st minute. Shortly afterwards, guided by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, the Corinthians players ran towards the locker room. The judge still asked them to wait, but soon opted for the closure shortly after, at 44.
Meanwhile, Santos athletes remained in the center of the field, surrounded by Vila security guards, waiting for instructions to leave the place safely.
With the ball rolling, Corinthians built their victory in the first half, with goals from Yuri Alberto and Ruan Oliveira.
The result left the Luxembourg team with 12 points in the National table and further away from the relegation zone. Odair Hellmann’s team, on the other hand, stopped with 13 points.
