This sensation is associated with the release of hormones during physical activity, which can generate an orgasm-like experience, explains Priscilla Sangiovanni, yoga teacher. She highlights that, even with her personal experience of practicing physical activity for years, she has never experienced the phenomenon.

Sangiovanni adds that for “coreorgasm” to occur, the pelvic region must contract to support strength and balance postures, such as yoga.

“This type of contraction stimulates the muscles so that the stimulus spreads to the inner thigh and genital region, providing a sensation similar to that of orgasm, although it is not exactly the same”, he adds.

When these movements are intense during exercise, the central nervous system triggers the release of three neurotransmitters and a hormone: endorphins, dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. These substances are associated with the sensation of pleasure, euphoria, reward, well-being, stress reduction and mood regulation, explains Aylton Figueira Junior, doctor in physiology and human adaptation.

Oxytocin, in addition to acting as a stress response hormone, promotes feelings of autonomy and confidence, it also influences the adrenal gland, which regulates the release of hormones related to stress and sexual activity, such as cortisol.

“The experience of pleasure during exercise is a normal response of the body to stress, and is not related to specific training for coreorgasm. Different types of exercise can trigger similar sensations due to the activation of the same hormones associated with orgasm”, says the expert .

This experience can be instantaneous for some people, occurring during or after exercise, while for others it may require time or repetition of movements. It’s important to note that not everyone experiences coreorgasms, and the intensity can vary between individuals and experiences.

Priscilla Sangiovanni highlights that the occurrence of this may be related not only to physical activity, but also to the person’s emotional state. Furthermore, the professional mentions that the occurrence of coreorgasm seems to be more common in women due to the exposure of the genital region and the influence of hormones.

Pompoarism teacher Regina Racco also cites the relationship between physical exercise and orgasms. As previously mentioned, the release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters can contribute to this phenomenon.

It’s an experience that occurs without direct or intentional sexual stimulation, which can easily happen during physical activity, says Racco. Everyday situations, whether intense physical exercise or emotional stimulation, can lead the body to an orgasm.

“Many women have difficulty having orgasms,” says Racco. “Shame and taboos surrounding sex affect our perception and experience. It’s impressive how the psychological aspect weighs so heavily on our sexual experience,” she adds. Therefore, it is possible for the spontaneous orgasm to happen without the person being aware of what it is, as they have not yet experienced this sensation.

However, the physiologist adds that there are few studies on the association between orgasm and physical exercise.

“In the scientific literature, specifically in the PubMed database, 131 studies were found that explore the relationship between orgasm and exercise, covering the period from 1974 to 2024 and including different types of scientific work”, says the physiologist. “However, when specifically analyzing meta-analysis and systematic review studies, only seven studies were identified, indicating a lack of scientific consensus in this area.”
