On Friday (24), CONMEBOL drew the groups for the U-17 South American Championship to be played in Ecuador. Brazil is in group A, alongside the hosts and also the selections of Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. The tournament starts on March 30th and ends on April 23rd.
The format of the U-17 South American Cup is the same as the U-20, a tournament that was played in Colombia and had the Brazilian team as champion. The ten teams are divided into two groups of five. The top three in each group advance to the next round.
In the final hexagonal, the teams face each other. In addition to the title, the top four will guarantee participation in the U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Peru in November.
Brazil opens against Ecuador on March 30, the opening day of the competition. In preparation for the tournament, the team plays two friendlies before the final call-up. The matches will take place in Quito, against Ecuador, on March 27th and 2nd, at the Liga de Quito stadium.
The Brazilian National Team is the greatest champion of the U-17 South American Championship with 12 titles. The last one was in 2017, the year in which Vinicius Junior was elected the best player and also the top scorer with 7 goals scored.
