Confederation of Insurance Companies wants to increase the share of the population covered by insurance

Increase the share of the Brazilian population served by 20% through the various products in the insurance market, open pension plans, supplementary health and capitalization. In addition to raising the payment of indemnities, benefits, sweepstakes, redemptions and medical and dental expenses from the current 4.6% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 6.5%. The planning was done this Monday (10) by the President of the National Confederation of Insurance Companies (CNseg), Dyogo Oliveira, who participated in a lunch with leaders from the insurance sector at Federasul, in Porto Alegre, where he presented the Insurance Market Development Plan. Oliveira said that the initiative represents greater stability and security for society. “The insurance sector is an important motor for the development of society, assuming risks in the most diverse economic activities and offering protection to society”, he highlighted.
According to Oliveira, the consumer is at the center of the Insurance Market Development Plan. “Brazilian society knows little about insurance and its use. The sector intends to expand the base of beneficiaries by developing more flexible products and suitable for different audiences, adopting readjustment rules and more appropriate deductibles for claims”, he added. The president of CNseg informed that the plan has four axes of work divided into 65 initiatives that will guide the entity’s actions until 2030. “The consequence of this plan is that in terms of revenue, the sector’s estimate is that we will surpass the mark of 10% of the national GDP in 2030”, he explained. The plan was divided into four axes: insurance image, distribution channels, products and regulatory efficiency.
During the lecture, the president of the Union of Insurance Companies in Rio Grande do Sul (Sindseg/RS), Guilherme Bini, presented data on indemnities paid in the State in 2022. insurance sector paid R$ 10.4 billion in indemnities, benefits, redemptions and drawings for policyholders in Rio Grande do Sul last year. The value was 33.9% higher compared to 2022. The result does not consider Supplementary Health and DPVAT. According to Bini, the participation of the rural insurance had a great influence on the result, with the payment of R$ 3.2 billion in indemnities. “the strong drought impacted crops and triggered a record demand for rural insurance coverage in the State”, he explained. The president of Sindseg/RS stated that the insurance sector fulfilled its mission of helping rural producers to continue their activities.
Other highlights in the sector were Automobile insurance, with the payment of R$ 164.9 million, and transport insurance, which indemnified R$ 127 million. Among the highlights, Automobile insurance ended 2022 with growth of 33.9%, while Rural increased by 32.3%. The Personal Coverage and Risk Plans segment grew by 12.4% in 2022 compared to 2021, driven by Life (11.8%) and Credit Insurance (9.2%). According to Bini, the numbers show that even after the period of crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the gaucho continues to see the importance of insurance for his day to day.
