Companies surf the exodus of Brazilian doctors – 04/12/2023 – Panel SA

The flight of Brazilian doctors to the USA is so great that even consulting companies have appeared on the market to help with emigration.

RD Medicine is one of them. The company presents itself as a school for the internationalization of Brazilian doctors.

The consultancy offers medical English courses, preparation for the residency test, mentoring for bureaucratic issues and guidance for internships and research.

All this so that the client can achieve what the company calls a “match” – the student’s approval.
In 2023, there were ten matches, and RD Medicine expects this number to triple next year.

The company says it has students applying for internships and research every month of the year.

As for medical residency, there is a group that goes through the interview season in September and receives the results in March of the following year.

The company’s expectation is that the business will grow in the coming years, because there is a tendency towards a shortage of doctors in the USA.

“The shortage of doctors in the USA is enormous. It is estimated that there will be a shortage of 160,000 doctors in the country in 2030”, says Rafael Duarte, CEO of RD Medicine. “This has led some American states to only require proof of revalidation, without requiring redo residency.”

The company should close this year with revenues of R$6 million, a number that should rise to R$10 million next year.

This all occurs while the Lula government tries to boost Mais Médicos, attracting foreign professionals.

The federal program, which currently has 18,500 doctors, had a record number of enrollees. Paraguay is the country with the largest number of trained doctors who will work at Mais Médicos.
