A group of 37 entities representing companies in sectors such as commerce and services submitted a proposal to the Lula government asking for an increase in the ceiling of Simples Nacional, a special taxation regime for micro-enterprises.
The movement, called Atualiza Simples Nacional, asks that the maximum gross revenue of participating companies be R$8.4 million – today the value is set at R$4.8 million.
The suggestion was sent to the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Márcio França.
The entities state that, in recent years, there has been growth in revenue due to high inflation, which led companies to correct prices and costs. Therefore, small businesses would already be close to or above the limit defined by the program.
Based on the IGP-DI (General Price Index – Internal Availability), the gap today already reaches 75.8%, according to the document prepared by the associations.
In addition to increasing the value, Atualiza Simples Nacional also asked France for an annual update based on an official inflation index.
In parallel to the dialogue with the federal government, a bill being processed in the Chamber of Deputies provides for an annual correction of the limits and gross revenue ranges of micro and small companies in Simples Nacional, through the IPCA (National Consumer Price Index).
