Civil Defense decrees emergency in 34 more municipalities and releases R$ 5.7 million

Thirty-four cities in five states of the country had the emergency situation recognized by the Civil Defense this Friday (24) due to natural disasters such as drought or heavy rains.
The ordinance of the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) was published in the Official Gazette (see full text) and allows municipalities to request funds for assistance to victims, restoration of essential services and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure. The ministry also released R$ 5.7 million in resources to help municipalities.
According to the ministry, of the 34 new emergency decrees, 20 are in Rio Grande do Sul due to the severe drought: Alto Alegre, Bom Progresso, Bossoroca, Caçapava do Sul, Candelária, Coqueiros do Sul, Entre-Ijuís, Espumoso, Gramado dos Loureiros, Ponte Preta, Porto Mauá, Progresso, Quinze de Novembro, São Martinho, São Valério do Sul, Selbach, Senador Salgado Filho, Três de Maio, Trindade do Sul and Vespasiano Correa.
With that, the state already has 211 municipalities in this situation. Another three municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul will receive R$ 905,000 in resources released this Friday (24) for the purchase of basic food baskets and supplying water trucks: Dezesseis de Novembro, Manoel Viana and Iraí.
On the other hand, an emergency situation was declared due to heavy rains, floods and floods in the cities of Carmo de Minas, Espera Feliz, Galiléia, Lima Duarte, Presidente Bernardes, Santos Dumont, in Minas Gerais; Juara, in Mato Grosso; José Bonifácio, Mogi das Cruzes, Paraibuna, Piracaia and Itaberá, in São Paulo; and in Dona Emma and Presidente Nereu, in Santa Catarina.
Also this Friday (24), the ministry released more aid resources to five cities in the states of Alagoas, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Bahia. In all, R$ 143.3 million have already been transferred to Brazilian municipalities affected by natural disasters.
