Another 12 cities in the country had the emergency situation recognized by the Civil Defense this Tuesday (28) due to natural disasters such as drought or excessive rainfall. The ordinance published in the Official Gazette (DOU) expands to 1,330 the number of municipalities with this federal recognition (see in full).

The most complicated situation is in Rio Grande do Sul, where 242 cities are in an emergency situation due to the drought. The municipalities of Barros Cassal, Forquetinha, Herveiras, Putinga, Salvador do Sul and Tio Hugo entered the list this Tuesday (28).

According to the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR), the state has already channeled investments of BRL 430 million to actions to mitigate the effects of the drought, with BRL 100 million for hiring water trucks to distribute water. and the purchase of basic food baskets and fuel, among other actions.

On the other hand, heavy rains provoked an emergency in the Minas Gerais city of Brasópolis and in the São Paulo municipalities of Cachoeira Paulista, Itaquaquecetuba, São Bento do Sapucaí, Sorocaba and Taubaté. According to the MIDR, the Southeast region has 550 municipalities in an emergency situation.
