City Hall plans to build 10 air-conditioned bus stops by the end of the year

Manaus (AM) – The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), announced this Monday (4th), that by the end of the year the City Hall will deliver 10 air-conditioned bus stops in the city.

The announcement was made during the delivery of the first 100% electric bus in Manaus and the first in the North Region. According to Almeida, more vehicles will be delivered, as well as the stops.

“For this year, we will have the construction of 10 large (bus) stops with air conditioning, whenever there is a large crowd”,

said the mayor.

The stops will be made in partnership with drugstores, malls, universities and large commercial spaces, where “they will manage, take care of and, thus, use the space to advertise”. Almeida also highlighted the proposal to make a package of initiatives that seek to modernize and improve public transport in the city.

Infrastructure

The City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Infrastructure (Seminf), advanced with the paving works of the branch in the Água Branca 1 community, located 32 kilometers from the urban perimeter of the capital, on the AM-010 highway. On Monday (4), teams completed almost 2 kilometers of earthworks, out of the 10 kilometers in length.

The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, signed a service order to start work on August 17th. The teams work, uninterruptedly, to bring dignity to the residents of the community.

“It was necessary to break a bubble of 40 years of power, to put in a manager who takes care of people, like Mayor David Almeida, who does not leave the people as a supporting actor, but as a protagonist, having their rights met. Enough of forgetting, this management is everywhere, even in the rural area”, says the Secretary of Works,

‘Manaus Verde’

The City Hall intensified afforestation services during the Amazonian summer. The Amazonian summer brought to the city of Manaus, in addition to the heat, the need to intensify care with the afforestation of the capital. The work of producing, planting and donating seedlings and managing afforestation, including night watering, is carried out by the City of Manaus, through the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (Semmas), with actions provided for in the Municipal Plan for Arborization and in the “Manaus Verde” program.

Through the Manaus Verde program, from January to July 2023, 141,018 seedlings were produced to be used in planting and distribution. In the same period, 44,889 seedlings were donated, in 36 itinerant distribution actions in neighborhoods in all areas of the city and in assistance to 173 environmental events of institutions that request the support of Semmas. In the same semester, 3,390 seedlings of tree species were planted. All data exceed the goals set out in the Manaus Verde action plan for the 2023/2024 biennium, related to the last 6 months.

The goals for the 24 months are the production of over 300,000 different seedlings at the Seedling Production Center, donation of over 60,000 different seedlings to the population and various institutions, planting and maintenance of over 20,000 tree seedlings in various parts of the City, assistance to more than 200 institutions with the donation of seedlings and carrying out more than 100 itinerant actions for the donation of seedlings in different neighborhoods and areas of the city.

The mayor, David Almeida carried out a balance of actions of the municipal management and presented new projects that will be implemented in the capital of Amazonas. The change of location of the Manaus sanitary landfill, vacancies in municipal day care centers and major works were the main highlights during an interview with Rede Amazônica, held on Thursday (31).

“The removal of this landfill from where it is to one further away will further burden the Manaus City Hall by approximately R$ 90 million per year. The city hall has its own landfill, it is the municipal landfill, for the population of the city of Manaus, so we have the solution that we are going to present to the Justice, and I am sure that the Justice will understand our arguments and the city hall will continue to manage its sanitary landfill, expanding and making it a reference for Brazil”,

Almeida said.

During the interview, the mayor also highlighted the progress of major works taking place in the city, one of which is the road complex project at the intersection between Barão do Rio Branco and Governador José Lindoso avenues (Torres), which already reaches 45% of execution. David Almeida recalls that the work must be delivered by the end of this year, six months before the original deadline.

“We bid for delivery in the month of June next year. And we are anticipating. All the stakes are already planted and the good news that we give to the population of the city of Manaus is that we will deliver this work exactly at Christmas this year, anticipating delivery by six months”,
