China’s cyberspace regulator said on Sunday that products made by U.S. memory chip maker Micron Technology had failed its security review and would bar infrastructure makers from purchasing the company’s products.
“The review found that Micron’s products pose serious network security risks, which in turn pose significant risks to the security of China’s critical information infrastructure supply chain, affecting the country’s national security,” the Administration of China said. China Cyberspace (CAC) in a statement.
Micron said it received the CAC’s notice of the completion of its review of the company’s products and “looks forward to continuing to engage in discussions with Chinese authorities.”
CAC did not provide details on what risks it had found or which Micron products would be affected.
The US and Chinese governments are at loggerheads over chip technology. Washington imposed a series of export controls on chip-making technology to China and acted to prevent Micron rival Yangtze Memory Technologies from buying certain American components.
