The Municipal Secretary of Education of Rio de Janeiro removed, this Wednesday (30), the director of the municipal day care center Luiza Barro de Sá Freire. In several videos posted on social networks, she appears dancing with children under the age of six to the sound of different funk songs, whose lyrics simulate the sexual act. In addition to the words and choreography, one of the songs mixes a sexual theme with rifle and machine gun fire.
This is the fifth director of the city’s public school network who is removed in the week. In recent days, four other directors of municipal schools in Rio were removed from office after a video of a presentation at a children’s school, also with a sexual connotation, gained repercussions on the internet. The Cia Suave group, responsible for the performance, received R$50,000 from the public coffers to carry out a series of presentations and officials in schools.
The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, even commented on this last case, saying that he reacted to the video “like any sane person who saw this recording, with a lot of indignation and repudiation”. He informed that the city hall will monitor more closely the presentations, activities or lectures in the municipal schools and that it will ask for the money paid to the group to be refunded.
In a note, the Municipal Secretariat said it did not tolerate “the use of any music or presentation with sexual connotations for children in daycare centers and municipal schools in Rio”. The agency confirmed that it opened an investigation to investigate the conduct of the daycare director and that it will not tolerate children “being exposed to inappropriate content in any way”.
