FIFA (International Football Federation) announced this Friday (22) the nominees for the Puskás Award, offered to the scorer of the most beautiful goal of the season. The entity selected 11 plays, two of them starring Brazilians.
One of these plays is the goal scored by Bia Zaneratto in the team’s victory over Panama, in the first round of the women’s World Cup. It was a beautiful collective build-up, with quick touches, the last of which was a backheel from Ary Borges that left the attacker free to score.

Also competing is Guilherme Madruga, from Botafogo-SP. In June, with a bicycle from outside the area, he defined his team’s 1-0 victory over Novorizontino, in the Brazilian Series B Championship.

The other nominees are Álvaro Barreal (FC Cincinnati), Linda Caicedo (Colombia), Julio Enciso (Brighton), Seong-jin Kang (South Korea under-20), Sam Kerr (Australia), Brian Lozano (Atlas), Iván Morante (Ibiza), Nuno Santos (Sporting) and Ashkat Tagybergen (Kazakhstan).
Scorers of goals scored between December 19, 2022 – the day after the men’s World Cup final – and August 20 were eligible. Due to the atypical date of the World Cup, FIFA needed to adjust the evaluation period for the award.
The 11 goals will now be submitted to a popular vote, with a deadline of October 10th. The weight of this vote is equal to that of the entity’s technical staff. The winner will be announced at the The Best ceremony, with no date set yet, which will celebrate the big names of the season.
