The Financial Inspection and Control Commission of the Chamber of Deputies will hold a public hearing this Tuesday (18) on corporate card spending by the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government, in particular the purchase of furniture for the Alvorada Palace.
The session was requested by Deputy Aureo Ribeiro (Solidariedade-RJ), to “debate ways to better manage and control expenses with payment cards of the federal government”.
Such as Sheet showed last week, the government spent BRL 196,770 on five pieces of furniture and a mattress for the Alvorada Palace.
A bed, two sofas and two armchairs were purchased from a store in a design and decoration mall in Brasília. In another store, the government bought a king size mattress.
The highest costs were for the sofa with an electric mechanism (reclining for the head and feet), which cost R$65,140, and the bed, for R$42,230. The pieces are upholstered in 100% natural Italian leather with an exclusive treatment to prevent dryness.
Representatives of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) and the Ministry of Planning were invited to the hearing.
