Project by federal deputy Saullo Vianna goes to the House’s Finance and Taxation and Constitution and Justice Committees for analysis
Manaus (AM) – The Urban Development Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved Bill (PL) No. 1278/2023, which proposes the implementation of community equipment for the practice of sports by elderly people in Federal Government housing programs, authored by the federal deputy Saullo Vianna (União-AM).
The Amazonian parliamentarian’s proposal had already been approved by the Commission for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly in August. “We took another fundamental step to ensure that our elderly people have adequate spaces to enjoy moments of leisure and social interaction, mainly with the announcement of more than 4 thousand housing units financed by the Federal Government in Amazonas”, stated Saullo.
For the Commission’s rapporteur of the proposal, deputy Cleber Verde (MDB-MA), the practice of physical exercise is fundamental for everyone’s health, and, in particular, for the elderly. “Aging is a process that occurs gradually and, the more a person takes care of their physical and mental health, the lower the chances of chronic diseases”, highlighted Saullo Vianna, author of the original project.
According to the deputy, the PL seeks to promote an active and healthy life for seniors, contributing to their quality of life and reducing the demand for public health services.
Vianna states that expenses arising from the application of the law will be covered by existing budget allocations, with the possibility of supplementing resources and their inclusion in future budgets will be mandatory. The project is being processed conclusively and will still be analyzed by the Finance and Taxation committees; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
