Minister Vinícius de Carvalho (Comptroller General of the Union) will defend at a meeting of the G20 working group (group of the twenty largest economies in the world) that the fight against corruption is a tool for the economic and social development of a country.

The anti-corruption working group meeting will be held on 12 August in Kolkata, India. The CGU assumes the temporary presidency of the collegiate starting in December.

Carvalho will also talk about encouraging the adoption of measures to prevent and combat corruption by the private sector and address the ways in which countries structure their institutions so that they can improve the ways of detecting and preventing corruption risks.

In addition to the CGU, which heads the Brazilian delegation at the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the AGU (Attorney General of the Union) will participate in the meeting.

The G20 anti-corruption working group was created in 2010 to lead policies to prevent and combat corruption. During the Brazilian presidency, there should be three technical meetings of the group and the third meeting at ministerial level.
