The meeting also honored and recognized teachers and students for projects approved by Fapeam
The State Secretariat for Education and School Sports organized a ceremony, this Wednesday (23), on the court of the André Vidal de Araújo State School, in Manacapuru, to celebrate the 66 coordinating teachers and the 198 junior scientist students who had the projects projects approved in the Science at School Program (PCE).
The main objective of the event was to recognize the efforts of those dedicated to developing science and research in the municipality. The schedule also marked the beginning of work on PCE projects this year.
“The intention was to recognize the merit of teachers and students who choose to do science at school. We intend to encourage more projects to be developed next year. The investments of the Government of Amazonas of R$7.2 million guaranteed the largest number of projects and grants in the history of the PCE”,
explained Joristela Queiroz, from the pedagogical advisory of CRE in Manacapuru.
The regional education coordinator of Manacapuru, João Messias Furtado, highlighted the role of the teacher and the school in providing students with access to science:
“I, as a teacher and educator, put myself in this condition. We lead, provide opportunities, transform, guide and give direction to our students, and it is a very big responsibility. Doing science enhances education. Giving our students the opportunity to do science enhances”,
said the coordinator.
Recognition and Incentive
One of the projects honored during the ceremony was that of chemistry professor Alessandro Couto. The project developed was a repellent based on rubber tree oil, a common tree in the state. The research resulted in an invitation for the professor to participate in the Fapeam Agribusiness Fair, held on the last 10th of August, at the Nilton Lins University, in the south-central zone of Manaus.
“It is very gratifying to have this type of ceremony recognizing the work of colleagues who had their projects approved. That is great. It is a great incentive for us to continue carrying out projects at the school. The ceremony was marked by this recognition of students and teachers”,
said Professor Alessandro.
Lauane Araújo, 17, a 3rd grade high school student, is also a veteran of the PCE. This year, she had her third project approved:
“I have already completed two projects through the PCE. Every one I’ve attended has resulted in an incredible experience. This new project I’m participating in is ‘Perséfone’, which aims to distribute sanitary pads to public school students through a dispenser positioned in the women’s bathroom. It will work with card reader, arduino, relay, motor and proto board. The card will remain at the secretary. The student who needs a pad can request the card, bring it closer to the reader in order to purchase it. This project also includes cycles of lectures”,
said the student.
