Manaus (AM) – The Edith Brandão Educational Center (CEEB) held the XV Cultural Fair this Tuesday (31), which was attended by Early Childhood and Elementary Education students. This year’s theme was: “Africa, cradle of humanity”.
According to the Director of Education, Marivone Martias, the project is an interdisciplinary work, which shows the student the history and diversity of African countries.
“Every year we choose a topic to cover. This project from Africa, the cradle of humanity, speaks very well about culture, geography, economy, religion, about everything they brought to our country. All of this is enriching for our students”,
Marivone said.
The institution’s classrooms were decorated with elements of the country that each one represented. Regarding the division of themes, Marivone explained how the process occurred.
“A meeting is held with the teachers, and the choice is largely up to the teacher, who identifies with each country. Once he identifies himself, he will work better, with more property, he will seek out a little more about this culture, so this also enriches the teacher’s knowledge”,
reported the professional.
Once the topic is passed on to each class, students meet to define strategies for presentation at the cultural fair.
“All students want to participate, whether by contributing their gift, they all play a role within the project, and they give their best. We have students who dress up, paint themselves, and do whatever it takes to make the fair look presentable,”
highlighted professor Priscila Silva.
In the 1st year classroom, teacher Carla Nice’s students presented aspects of Ghana. Student Gustavo Henrique talked about aspects of the country’s culture.
“During the festivals, cultural activities are carried out, such as traditional dances, with the clothes we are wearing, musical concerts, artistic exhibitions and debates on political and social issues in modern Africa, which makes the country important”,
described the student.
João Gabriel presented details about the African country’s economy.
“Ghana’s economy is based on the extraction of natural resources and agriculture, making Ghana one of the richest countries in tropical Africa. The main products are cocoa and pineapple, which account for the largest quantity of exports”,
said the student.
