The Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Upper Chamber, chaired by senator Davi Alcolumbre, approved this Wednesday, 18, a bill that updates the Quota Law for access to higher and secondary technical education in the country, as well as issues on combating violence against women.
“As president of the CCJ, I am proud to say that we approved these great achievements for the Brazilian people, bringing justice to millions of people”, celebrated Senator Davi, after the vote.
The quota bill concerns access by blacks, mixed race, indigenous people, quilombolas and people with disabilities to federal institutions of higher education and secondary technical education.
The text of the article also reaches students who have completed secondary or elementary education in a public school.
To combat violence against women in the country, a bill was unanimously approved extending the period for women who are victims of domestic violence to file criminal representation to 12 months. Today, the right to file a complaint or representation to initiate an investigation into the crime has a maximum period of six months.
At the same CCJ meeting, president Davi Alcolumbre scheduled for this Thursday
reading the reports of those appointed to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The hearings will take place on the 25th, Wednesday.
