CBF forwards complaint of racism, by Hélio dos Anjos, from Ponte Preta, to STJD

After a complaint of alleged racism, suffered by the Ponte Preta coach, Hélio dos Anjos, the CBF forwarded the case both to its Compliance sector and to the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD). This was the first complaint after the entity changed its regulation in cases involving racism.

In the alteration of the General Regulation of Competitions, cases of racism can lead to a fine that, in case of recurrence, reach R$ 1 million. Warning, prohibition of registration of players and even loss of points are also foreseen. The entity also started to adopt the procedure of sending the summary to the Public Ministry and the Civil Police so that possible punishments do not remain only in the sporting environment.

Hélio dos Anjos made the complaint in the match against Brasil de Pelotas, for the second phase of the Copa do Brasil, held last Tuesday, when the team from São Paulo was defeated by 2-0, being eliminated. He warned the arbitration about a possible case of racism when he was called a ‘negão’.

The Military Brigade was called, but did not arrest anyone, because the technician was unable to indicate the possible transgressor. The act was reported in a summary by referee Felipe Fernandes de Lima.

Hélio dos Anjos said he will not go to the Police to file a police report on the case. Ponte Preta, in response to the press, also stated that “at the request of coach Hélio dos Anjos himself, he will not make any representation on this matter”.
