CBF debuts new VAR line in the Super Cup and will apply it in other competitions

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will debut the new Video Assistant Referee (VAR) line in the Brazilian Super Cup that will take place this Saturday (28), between Flamengo and Palmeiras, at the Mané Garrincha stadium (DF).
Technology tends to favor attacking players in offside checks and should decrease the number of disallowed goals. The initial information was given by “Metrópoles” and confirmed by UOL Sport.
The technology consists of lines that, after being superimposed, become a single blue color. The CBF refutes the thesis that they are “thicker lines”. The entity will technically detail the process as soon as it officially announces it.
The VAR model is already adopted in England and Spain, and it was a request from Brazilian clubs to the CBF. The new VAR will also be applied in the Brazilian Championship and in the Copa do Brasil.
CBF tests and confirms VAR on Mané Garrincha’s screens
Another novelty that will be present in this Saturday’s Super Cup is the transmission of VAR checks in real time to the public on the big screens at Mané Garrincha. The experience will be in a test format which, later on, the CBF intends to take to FIFA so that the technology can be officially applied in Brazilian competitions.
On Monday (23) the entity tested the tool at the stadium that will host the competition and, according to those involved, the balance was positive.
