CBF copies Ferj and will charge clubs discounts above half price on ticket prices

The CBF General Competition Regulations (RGC), approved by the clubs in a meeting on February 14, imposed an extra cost on the participants of its competitions, not measured on the day and only now discussed in parallel conversations between executives of the institutions.

The entity will start to charge from the hosts of the matches the value that exceeds the price of half price, and it is only now, almost a month later, that the clubs were aware of the impact of this decision on box office receipts.

The difference to be paid will have to appear on the game receipt, increasing the gross income and, consequently, the rate of 5% to the local Federation and another 5% to the INSS, both levied on the collection of the match.

Bottom line: those clubs that have categories with discounts above 50% in the value of the ticket price in the member-fans plan will have to pay the difference of each ticket withdrawn in the promotional value.

For example: Vasco, Fluminense, Botafogo, Palmeiras, Grêmio, Internacional and Bahia that even offer discounts of up to 100% in the main categories of their plans will have to add half the value of each ticket to the invoice of the games in which they are the principals 100 % promotional.

Those, like Flamengo, who offer discounts of 20 to 50% on the half price will have to make up the difference.

The theme began to be discussed in more depth in recent days, after the decisive classics of the GB Cup, the first round of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The Federation presided over by Rubens Lopes was one of the first to implement the model and demanding that the payment of the difference appear in the invoice of the games.

That is: in the confrontation with Vasco on Sunday (the 5th), the income exceeded R$ 5 million because Flamengo, as principal, had to pay about R$ 650 thousand referring to tickets withdrawn at a discount.

Net income was BRL 2.4 million, and each club was left with BRL 1.2 million – just over 20% of the amount collected.

The executives started to do math and found that at the end of the year the drop in revenue for some could reach R$ 10 million.

Therefore, they study a way to pressure the CBF to change paragraph 5 of Article 97 of the 7th Chapter of the RGC, which orders:

“Regardless of the policies and values ​​adopted by the clubs in their fan membership programs, in case of sale for a value below the half-price of the respective sector, the responsible club must enter and complement, in the statement, the value corresponding to the difference of the half-price Prohibited…”
