Carnival block with Boi-bumbá tunes will stir up the revelry in São Paulo

For the second time, a group of friends who are passionate about the Caprichoso and Garantido bulls will put on a carnival block with toadas
The north zone of São Paulo will become a little piece of the Amazon, or rather, of Parintins on the 25th of February. Starting at 2 pm, on Rua Viri, in Santana, BumbaBloco promises to bring a mix of tunes from Caprichoso and Garantido to lovers of the Parintins oxen who live in the “land of drizzle”.
This is the second year that friends Adão Modesto, Priscila Ribeiro, Fernanda Palermo and Elizangela Santos have come together to put up a block of boi-bumbá in the streets of São Paulo. The first edition of BumbaBloco was in 2020.
According to Fernanda Palermo, among the attractions confirmed for the block is Boi Garantido artist Wanderson Rodrigues. “He, who already performed in the first edition of BumbaBloco, did not hide his anxiety at being taking the culture of the North of the country to São Paulo for the second time”, he reveals.
The band Canto da Mata is another much-awaited attraction at BumbaBloco, with more than 25 years on the road. In addition to the singers, the dance group Sampa Tribal, coordinated by Karlos Lima, will also brighten the event with dancers.
To participate in BumbaBloco, Fernanda says that it is enough to wear blue or red and show up at Rua Viri, from 2 pm to 7 pm. “We are going to transform Santana into a real piece of the Amazon. I am very happy to be able to take a little of the culture of Parintins to those who don’t know it yet and to quench the nostalgia of those who are far from the homeland”, she concludes.
