The State University intends to collect donations to help indigenous people
The University of the State of Amazonas (UEA) makes its debut in Momo’s revelry, next Sunday (12), with the first edition of CarnaUEA. It will be in the parking lot of the Escola Normal Superior (ENS), from 4pm until midnight.
The purpose of the party, in addition to fraternizing with the university’s academic community and the public in general, is to collect non-perishable food for the Yanomami. Indigenous people of the ethnic group are dying, literally, of hunger, and also affected by various diseases.
The rector of the UEA, André Zogahib, emphasized that the university should not close its eyes to this delicate moment for the Yanomami. “We cannot remain oblivious to the situation of calamity in which our brothers and sisters find themselves. We will do our part and hope to count on everyone’s help, ”he says.
open bar
Entry to CarnaUEA will be free, but it is important that everyone is aware of the cause and make their donations. On the day of the event there will be a collection point at the teaching unit, in addition to that during the week, contributions can be delivered at any of the six UEA units spread across Manaus.
Revelers who prefer to play more privately can opt for the VIP area. Access to the space will cost R$ 100.00, including an abbah and an open bar. From 4 pm to 11 pm, there will be water, beer, soda, caipirinha and caipiroska at will.
The Pro-Rectory of Extension and Community Affairs (Proex) of the university is responsible for organizing CarnaUEA, in partnership with the event producer Arrecad Universitário.
For the pro-rector, Darlisom Ferreira, the party is an initiative of the institution’s top management, which aims to combine efforts to support the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. “Our intention is to act preventively on issues related to the vulnerability of this population. And, we decided to add the cultural moment that Brazilians and the whole country live, which is Carnival”, he explained.
