Captain revealed that he is in negotiations with the former Suframa superintendent for them to form the same ticket with the support of Bolsonaro

Manaus (AM) – Federal deputy Captain Alberto Neto (PL) can run in the 2024 election alongside Colonel Menezes, of the same party. With the support of former president Jair Bolsonaro, the parliamentarian is considering heading the Liberal Party’s “thoroughbred” ticket for Manaus City Hall this year.

In an interview, the Captain revealed that he is in negotiations with the former Suframa superintendent so that they can form the same ticket with the support of Bolsonaro. Even with a troubled past between the two, with an exchange of accusations and a critical tone, the federal deputy calls for unity and pacification of the right in Amazonas.

“I started yesterday [9] a dialogue with Colonel Menezes and the conversation went well. Even with the possibility of the PL coming with a pure ticket and Colonel Menezes being my deputy. It’s something that hasn’t been concluded yet,”

said in an interview with the program Lomittas Tá ON, on Rede Onda Digital.

Even with the possibility of forming a PL coalition for this year’s Manaus City Council election, Alberto Neto stated on social media that “there is no possibility of being vice-president on any ticket in this election”.

The nods between the two come after Menezes managed to stay in the PL through the Amazonas Court. “We have great challenges in 2024 and the PL is my party and also that of President Bolsonaro, who is the greatest right-wing political leader in Brazil. We are in a moment of construction and in this way we will continue to seek the path of dialogue to achieve better understanding”, said Menezes.

Menezes also classified the need for a PL candidate in the municipal election this year as more relevant.

“There are many interests at stake today, but the important, fundamental thing is that the PL has a candidate in the elections who represents the ideals and who has the DNA of the right, who is identified with what moves us: God, Country, Family and Freedom.”

Bolsonarist capital

The union for a PL candidacy for Manaus City Hall is strengthened by the numbers that show that Manaus is a Bolsonarist capital. According to the survey by the Northern Research Institute (Ipen), released in September 2023, showed that 65.5% of voters consider Lula’s administration to be bad, terrible or regular.

The former president still managed to achieve a great position in the last two presidential elections. In 2018, Bolsonaro reached the 65% mark and 53% in 2022.
