A bill approved by the City Council of Campinas (SP) and sanctioned by Mayor Dário Saadi (Republicans) instituted the payment of 13th salary and paid annual vacations with an increase of 1/3 for the 33 city councilors from 2025.
At the beginning of the month, the House approved a readjustment in the amount of the subsidy also for two years from now, from the current R$ 10,070.86 to R$ 17,800 per month —an increase of 77%.
According to a budget study by the Legislature of Campinas, the impact of the measures will be approximately BRL 3.4 million per year, which corresponds to 2% of the current budget of BRL 170 million —the House forecasts that it will be greater in 2025, thus reducing the impact.
In a note, the City Hall of Campinas says that the bill is an initiative of the Chamber and, “respecting the independence of the Powers, the law was sanctioned”. The Chamber adds that annually transfers funds from its own budget to the Executive to invest in the city. In recent years, he says, the average was R$ 25 million.
