Caixa Econômica Federal branches throughout Brazil will open an hour earlier this Wednesday (18) for services linked to Desenrola Brasil, Minha Casa, Minha Vida and the bank’s credit lines.

The special operation will be carried out according to the agency’s opening hours, which vary according to the region of the country and city, and will be carried out on a first-come, first-served basis, with password distribution. Closing time will not change.

Agencies in the city of São Paulo will begin serving the public at 9 am instead of 10 am and close business hours normally at 4 pm. The opening hours of each branch can be found at this link.

The initiative is part of the “Tá na CAIXA” campaign, with the aim of facilitating service and clarifying doubts about the bank’s services and will be attended by directors of the institution in the 26 States and the Federal District.

WHAT IS DESENROLA BRAZIL?

Launched by the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government in partnership with banks and other financial agents, Desenrola is a debt renegotiation program.

Interested companies offer discounts and installment terms for defaulters to pay off their debts.

Since September 25th, the government has been promoting the so-called discount auction, in which the 709 qualified creditor companies can inform, on the Desenrola Brasil platform, how much they are willing to write off on their debts to facilitate renegotiation.

The average discount offered by creditors, according to Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance), is 83%.

A debt of R$5,000, for example, drops to R$259 and can be paid in installments with a Treasury guarantee. Companies in the education, electricity and sanitation sectors offer discounts of over 90%.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN DESENROLA BRASIL

The last phase of Desenrola Brasil has an official payment platform, developed in partnership with B3. Anyone with an income of up to two minimum wages (R$2,640) or anyone who is registered with CadÚnico (Cadastro Único) and has debts of up to R$5,000 negative between January 2019 and December 2022 can participate in this stage.

There are more than 20 million defaulters who can pay up to 60 installments in the payment of bank and non-bank debts — such as electricity, water, retail, education bills — and clear their name with the Treasury guarantee.

Those who have debts between R$5,000 and R$20,000 can also take advantage of the discounts, which reach 96% in some cases, and renegotiate. In this case, however, payment through the platform will be in cash.

Around 12 million debtors are in this situation. For your debt to appear on the Desenrola portal, the creditor must have joined the program.

To participate, you must have a silver or gold certification level on the Gov.br website, which is a minority among the 32 million CPFs that are eligible. See below the step-by-step guide for renegotiating your debt through Desenrola Brasil.

WHAT IS MY HOME, MY LIFE

Minha Casa, Minha Vida is one of the federal government’s main social programs.

The goal is to contract 2 million housing units by the end of Lula’s term, including subsidized housing for category 1 and financed housing for other income groups.

The program is divided into three tracks. Today the upper limit is R$8,000, but Lula has already asked for studies to raise the ceiling to up to R$12,000. If this is implemented, the maximum value of the property financed by the program can reach R$500,000. Today it is R$350 thousand.

The Ministry of Cities, responsible for Minha Casa, Minha Vida, will still carry out the calculations to find out which model will be proposed for expanding the program to the middle class.
