The City University of London is launching a master’s course focused exclusively on podcast production.
The program was developed in consultation with major brands in the industry, such as Spotify, Sony and the BBC, and seeks to give students the skills they need to thrive in the podcast niche and to fill the skills gap in the field.
Developed in the university’s journalism department, the course will have disciplines that will help students in the process of audio production and editing, narrative and project financing, addressing topics such as advertising and audience development strategies.
The master’s will be coordinated by journalist Sandy Warr, who has participated in podcasts for The Guardian, and leads a program on the British network LBC News, and will have disciplines taught by Fernando Pizzarro, former podcast editor at the New York Times, in addition to guest speakers .
According to the university, there are still no scholarships for the course, but the institution is looking for companies to help finance enrollment for low-income students.
Enrollment is open for the program that will start in September in a completely face-to-face manner. The fees for international students are £17,860.00 (R$112,756.00) per year for the full-time course and £8,930.00 (R$56,378) for part-time.
