“Brilha Amazonas” program takes clean energy to tourist communities

Manaus (AM) – The governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima participated in the launch ceremony of the program “Brilha Amazonas”, this Friday afternoon (5), at the rio negro park in the São Raimundo neighborhood, west of Manaus. The program aims to strengthen tourism in communities that do not have access to energy, through solar panels.

A partnership between the State Government and the State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), which proposes to distribute 253 solar panel kits to communities that rely on tourism as a source of income, by the second half of 2023, generating renewable energy.

Representatives of the Sibiá, Tuyuka, Tatuyo and Tatuyo indigenous communities, the president of the company Amazonastur, Gustavo Sampaio and state secretaries participated in the event.

During a press conference, the governor declared that the program is a step forward for investing in new consumption of clean energy, preserving the environment and reducing greenhouse gases.

“We are moving towards a new energy matrix, we are investing in renewable energy, in 20, 30 years we will probably not have fossil fuels. There is a need for the world to make an energy transition,” she pointed out.

Solar energy is the energy from the light and heat emitted by the Sun. This energy source can be used in a photovoltaic or thermal way, generating electrical and thermal energy. Because it is considered clean energy, solar energy is one of the most efficient alternative sources of energy.

Wilson stated that this delivery is a way to bring dignity to communities, giving them the possibility to receive, for the first time, a source of electric light.

“We are making a delivery that has two important meanings, the main one is to bring dignity to these communities, it is to give the possibility for a citizen who is in a community like this to be able to exchange the diesel engine for a solar energy plate. For other communities, which are receiving these solar energy panels, it means having electricity for the first time in their community, it means getting rid of the lamp”, he said.

One of the community members, a member of the Tatuyo ethnic group, Pycó, 22 years old, said that the project helped with the issue of sustainability and enlightenment in the community where he lives.

“This project helps us a lot with regard to the sustainability and lighting of the homes we have and work with tourism. We won this opportunity to have solar panels that will help with lighting, mainly in the maloca, where we receive tourists and earn our livelihood. In addition to helping a lot with the issue of the use of electronic devices in the community. “, he stated.

The capture of solar energy can be done through various technologies, such as photovoltaic panels, heliothermic plants and solar heaters.

The young indigenous Tatuyo also declared that the communities are in a period of development and having the government’s commitment helps in development.

“As we are in a time that is developing a lot, having this commitment with the government and being part of these projects makes us very happy, because we are feeling represented by the government, we received this help and we are very grateful. The project will bring an abundance of sustainable energy and we are very happy with that.”, he pointed out.

The accreditation term for those interested in participating in the project was signed on February 16, by Governor Wilson Lima, in the municipality of São Sebastião da Uatumã (247 km from Manaus).

“We are coming here to deliver the first solar energy kits to remove the electricity generator, which consumes fuel. The solar panel is a renewable energy source. We just need sunlight, which we have in the Amazon in abundance” said Governor Wilson Lima at the event.

To participate in the registration, those interested in purchasing the solar energy kit must meet the criteria of the call notice, which is on the Amazonastur website, where you can request up to five solar panels. For purchases of more than one kit, a project justifying the need must be signed by the responsible electrical engineer.

The project will use photovoltaic panels that can also be called photovoltaic solar panels, which are devices that convert sunlight into electrical energy composed of solar cell phones.

In photovoltaic panels and heliothermal plants, sunlight is converted into electrical and thermal energy. In solar heating, sunlight is converted into thermal energy.”
