This Saturday (4), Brazil reached 200 medals won at the Pan-American Games in Santiago, Chile. The competition ends this Sunday (5).
In second place in the medal table, with 64 golds, 71 silvers and 65 bronzes, behind only the United States, the country far surpassed its 2019 performance in Lima, when it totaled 169 medals (54 golds, 45 silvers and 70 bronzes).
This Saturday, Brazil won 8 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze. Among the golden highlights, the victory in the men’s volleyball final, over Argentina, by 3 sets to 0, the victory in men’s football, over Chile, on penalties, and rhythmic gymnastics (two golds, one per team, on the ribbons and balls, and one for Maria Eduarda Alexandre, and a silver, for Bárbara Domingos).
In canoeing, Isaquías Queiroz, gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, took silver in the C1 1000 meter category.
The country also won gold medals in the mixed triathlon relay, fencing (team), the men’s 4×400 athletics relay and figure skating (Erik Leite).
The silver came in the women’s pairs of trampoline gymnastics (Alice Hellen and Camila Lopes, who was also runner-up in the individual), in the men’s, in the same modality, with Ryan Dutra, in karate (Lucas Fernandes, category over 84 kg ), in athletics, with Marlene Santos (400 m), in figure skating (Bianca Ameixeiro), in javelin throwing (Pedro Henrique Nunes) and in men’s water polo.
The bronzes came in race walking (Caio Bonfim and Viviane Santana, in the mixed marathon), table tennis (women’s team), Basque pelota (Felipe Otheguy), men’s team archery (Marcus D’Almeida, Matheus Gomes and Matheus Ely), women’s water polo, sailing (Samuel Albrecht and Gabriela Nicolino, in the Nacra 17 class), women’s rugby, karate (Giovani Salgado, in the over 84kg category) and Kelly Fernandes, over 55kg category, wrestling (Igor Queiroz , in the up to 97 kg category), men’s basketball, 3000m steeplechase meters (Tatiane da Silva), women’s 4×400 relay and trampoline gymnastics (Lucas Tobias and Rayan Dutra, in men’s doubles).
