The Ministry of Health concluded that, of the 510 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19 applied throughout Brazil, only 50 deaths were directly related to immunizers. This corresponds to one death for every 10 million doses, a value considered extremely low.

According to the epidemiological bulletin, there were 63 deaths classified by state surveillance as having a consistent causal relationship with Covid vaccines. After reviewing the data, the conclusion was that there were 50 deaths.

The information is contained in an epidemiological bulletin published this month. They were initially published by UOL.

Of this total, there were 28 with the AstraZeneca vaccine, 17 with the Butantan vaccine, and 4 with the Janssen vaccine and one with the Pfizer vaccine.

“So far, the data indicate that these vaccines have an excellent benefit versus risk profile, having generated an extremely positive impact on the health of the Brazilian population, with a significant reduction in cases, hospitalizations and deaths from the disease”, says the epidemiological bulletin.

A publication by Imperial College London estimated that vaccination prevented between 700,000 and 880,000 deaths in Brazil by the end of 2021.
