Boulos allies say that Marta lost her strength in SP – 08/25/2023 – Panel

Amidst speculation that Marta Suplicy may occupy the runner-up on the ticket of Ricardo Nunes (MDB) in the race for São Paulo City Hall in 2024, allies of Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) say that, if this materializes, the electoral repercussions should be small or should not exist.
As the Panel showed, the PL suggests that Marta assume the vice in strategy to get votes in peripheral regions that historically vote for the PT, to which the former mayor was affiliated for 33 years. President Lula’s party will not launch a candidate and will support Boulos.
Allies of the PSOL federal deputy recall, however, that Marta supported Bruno Covas (PSDB) against Boulos in 2020 and that the toucan lost to the psolist in Grajaú and Parelheiros, districts in the South Zone where the former PT is historically more popular.
The PL’s strategy with Marta also aims to divide the PT bench in São Paulo, with the expectation that part of the PT militants and councilors will not strive to elect Boulos. For the psolist political group, however, the former minister has lost a lot of influence with PT politicians since she voted in favor of the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff (PT), in 2016.
“We cannot forget that Marta was a candidate for mayor in 2016 and managed to stay behind Celso Russomanno, third in that election. Marta, Jair Bolsonaro and Nunes, there is no shot that can handle playing a good game with these three balls on the table” , says Laércio Ribeiro, president of the PT’s municipal directory in São Paulo.
Ribeiro responded to the comment by Jilmar Tatto, the PT’s Communications Secretary, for whom Marta’s appointment as deputy would be a “masterstroke” by the current mayor’s group.
