Volumes two and three of the book The Color of the Voice will be launched this Wednesday (1) at Alvorada City Hall. The books are composed of transcripts of seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the podcast The Color of the Voice, a literary project created by Profa. Master in Literature by Tainã Rosa, linked to the Institute of Letters at UFRGS. The launch takes place at 3 pm and on the occasion, 10 copies of the works will be donated to each of the libraries of the 31 schools and 5 institutes of the Municipal Education Network of Alvorada/RS.
Heard in 31 countries, the podcast The Color of the Voice was created in 2020, aiming to disseminate concepts and debates related to ethnic-racial relations to the public outside universities. In partnership with black activists, professors and academics, Tainã began producing episodes about black lives. This year, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Law 10,639/03, which obliges the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian culture in all schools in the country, the transformation of the podcast into books comes to strengthen and expand the reach of the content, fostering the access and research of black and indigenous sciences produced on various topics.
As a complementary action, during the launch week, the project will build 20 reading points at Alvorada bus stations through Gelitecas, personalized mini-libraries. In addition, the book will have a digital version, available for free on the official Podcast website.
