Manaus (AM) – The constant changes in the legal market increasingly require new skills from law professionals, in addition to an expanded view of the business. This is what the businessman and specialist in legal marketing Bruno Bom, author of the book “The Philosophy of Success in Advocacy”, in partnership with Sergio Vieira, partner-director of Nelson Wilians Advogados, awarded the title of Citizen of Manauara, in 2018, and Cidadão Amazonense, in 2019.

Expected to be officially launched on the 17th, in São Paulo, the book is aimed at all operators of Law at any level of activity, who understand that the area is a complex universe, capable of seducing the most gifted, and that it is need to dialogue with other skills to achieve the desired highlight.

“It is a dialogue with marketing, management, entrepreneurship, new technologies, hard, soft skills, networking. Although the work is directed to the legal sector, it contains insights and reflections for professionals in any segment”,

reveals Bruno.

In addition to a philosophical introduction, “The Philosophy of Success in Advocacy” brings a guide to business, management, entrepreneurship and a case study of Nelson Wilians Advogados (the largest corporate law firm in Latin America), showing the philosophies and thoughts that led to its founder to success.

Co-author of the work, Sergio emphasizes that the book consists of realizing that the business model has changed and, more than having legal expertise, the lawyer needs to be a strategic business ally of his clients.

“I believe in a phrase by Alvin Toffler, in which he says that the illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read or write, but those who do not have the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn. I think this is the philosophy of success in the profession: the ability of the lawyer to learn, unlearn and relearn all the time, due to the dynamism and mutability not only of the legal market, but of the world”,

According to the authors, the idea of writing the book – which has a preface by the jurist José Renato Nalini – came after observing the performance of legal offices in Brazil and the analysis of few that became successful during the last ten years and that many failed in their way of acting.

Bruno Bom says that the inspiration for developing “The Philosophy of Success in Advocacy” is also based on Napoleon Hill’s research, “Think and Grow Rich”, from 1937.

“Daniel Carnegie, a great steelmaker and businessman in the United States, asked Napoleon Hill to gather, through research, the denominators of success among entrepreneurs at the time. This research took 20 years and he interviewed great personalities, such as Henry Ford, Rockefeller, Nicola Tesla. With these interviews, Hill wrote ‘Think and Grow Rich’, which brings together the common denominators of people who are successful no matter what they do.”

Likewise, over a decade, Bruno Bom and Sergio Vieira gathered the elements of success based on experiences in the legal area.

“We were looking for the denominators, the 16 pillars of the philosophy of success. This is not a script, because I strongly condemn saying that there is a formula for success, a script. Many times, we look to the most sophisticated management class or to those internet gurus for a solution that satisfies our problem, whatever it may be, but I believe that we can find in the historical or realistic philosophy itself, thoughts, reflections and methods of thinking that can be applied to our reality”, reflects Sergio Vieira.
