The defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro informed this Monday (13) that he will deliver the second set of jewelry received as a gift from Saudi Arabia to the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU). The information was published by the newspaper The globe.

According to the report, Bolsonaro’s lawyers want the pieces to remain under the custody of the TCU until their final destination, whether private collection or Union property, is defined by the Court of Auditors.

In the document, filed by the defense at the TCU, which O Globo had access to, the lawyers say that Bolsonaro, at no time, intended “to have for himself assets that could, in any way, be considered public”. As a result, such items will be handed over to the custody of the public authorities, “until the discussion on their correct destination is concluded, definitively”.

The defense also makes it clear that it did not receive any subpoena or official communication about the existence of this inquiry, but decided to appear spontaneously after the information was reported in the press. The lawyers also add that, if the initiation of an investigation is confirmed, that the defense of the former president has access to the case number and the file of the content.
