Bolsonaro will use the mantra of not being convicted of corruption – 06/30/2023 – Panel

In an attempt to differentiate himself from Lula (PT), former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and his allies intend to repeat to exhaustion that his ineligibility was not due to corruption.

The current president was arrested for Operation Lava Jato, but his conviction was later annulled by the STF (Federal Supreme Court).

The strategy aims to preserve the political capital of the former representative, declared ineligible this Friday (30) by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) with 5 votes in favor and 2 against.

The leader of the PL in the Chamber, Altineu Cortes (RJ), for example, is one of those who verbalize the discourse of injustice and the absence of condemnation for corruption.

“Bolsonaro had 58 million votes. It is not possible that millions of Brazilians are feeling wronged now, because he was made ineligible for a crime of opinion. There is nothing of corruption, it is just a crime of opinion”, he maintains.

Another with similar statements is Deputy Marco Feliciano (PL-SP). In a video shot on a broadcast list, he says that this Friday (30) will go down in history as the day “of the greatest injustice ever done against a man, an honest politician, who did not steal, who did not divert millions from coffers public”.

Bolsonaro himself has been using the same terms in his statements in recent days. The former president used the same terms in an interview in Belo Horizonte. “I believe it was the first conviction for abuse of political power. I believe this was my crime. Crime without corruption, but come on.”

The conviction for corruption, even annulled, was one of the themes most explored by Bolsonaro’s campaign against Lula. It was also one of the points that most destabilized the petista, including in debates.
