Former president Jair Bolsonaro will testify to the Federal Police (PF), on Wednesday (6), about the case of the jewels that came from Saudi Arabia. Bolsonaro arrived in Brazil last Thursday (30), after spending three months in the United States.

The PF should also listen to the former aide-de-camp, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid and Colonel Marcelo da Costa Câmara, who worked in Bolsonaro’s office, reported the newspaper O Globo. The depositions must be taken on the same day.

The inquiry was initiated after the newspaper “Estado de S. Paulo” revealed that the presidential entourage brought from Saudi Arabia a set of jewels valued at R$ 16.5 million, which ended up being seized by the Federal Revenue Service. Two other sets of jewels would also not have been declared when the delegation arrived in Brazil. One of these sets has already been delivered by Bolsonaro’s defense to Caixa Econômica Federal.

In a note, Jair Bolsonaro’s defense stated that the ex-president’s testimony “will be an opportunity for him to provide all the necessary information. It is a routine procedural act, when he will clarify that he always acted in accordance with the legislation that regulates the gift offerings from foreign governments”.
