Bolsonaro says in a speech in Florida that he will strengthen the Brazilian right

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) addressed the faithful of an evangelical church in Boca Raton, Florida, on Saturday night (11) and said he will work for the right to return to power. The vast majority of those present at the Church of All Nations were Brazilians living in the United States.

In the speech, Bolsonaro said that his “mission is not over yet” and that the Brazilian right does not have a national leadership. “We have regional, these people are growing. We will get strong, we will come back. Our vocation is to be more than an extension. A great nation indeed.”

“We started to explicitly admire our national flag, we started talking about a traditional family. We began to understand where the right to property, respect for others was going, ”she said.

Bolsonaro once again raised doubts about the Brazilian electoral system, recalling that, in 2018, he was elected in the second round, but, in his understanding, “I was elected in the first round”. At another point in the speech, the former president said that he was unable to be re-elected in 2022 “at least before the TSE [Tribunal Superior Eleitoral]”, followed by boos from the audience against the Court.

The former president also stated that “it doesn’t matter what happens to me here or in Brazil, or how something happens.” Last Friday (10), Ministers Cármen Lúcia, Edson Fachin and Luiz Fux, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), sent ten cases against Bolsonaro to the first instance of Justice due to the loss of jurisdiction due to the prerogative of his function.

Criticism of the Lula government, the Yanomami and the handling of the pandemic

Still in the speech, Bolsonaro criticized the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), comparing his ministerial body with that of the current president. “Compare my ministers with the present ministers. Many are not ministers, they are defendants. The bill, everyone will pay. Even whoever made that L for thief,” he said.

During the speech, Bolsonaro stated that his government has always had relations with other countries in the world, mainly the United States and Israel, in a veiled criticism of President Lula’s statements that he isolated Brazil in foreign affairs.

“[Também] good contacts with South Korea, Japan, Italy, practically every country in the world”, he added, recalling that he also visited Russia “on the verge of a war to negotiate the supply of fertilizers to Brazil”.

Bolsonaro also commented on the crisis experienced by the Yanomami people, saying that there are many interests in the “riches” existing in the demarcated lands, that there is “a periodic table underground” in the state of Roraima.

“A gold region (sic), [de] immeasurable riches. If there were no riches there, the indigenous land would not be demarcated. There is no interest in helping the population”, he added, stating that 40% of the land is in Brazilian soil and 60% in Venezuela.

At another point in the lecture, the former president mentioned his policy to combat Covid-19, saying that “I was not wrong in any of my observations about the pandemic”, with a sequence of applause from the faithful present.

He also said that perhaps “he was the only head of state in the world who did not require vaccination”, praising the analyzes of the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, US agency for the protection of public health) on the vaccine imported from Pfizer, one of the first applied to the Brazilian population.

“I see the CDC here studying with much more responsibility than our Anvisa in Brazil”, he added.
