Bolsonaro criticizes demarcation of indigenous lands and rules out candidacy in 2024

In a speech at the International Fair of Agricultural Technology in Action (Agrishow), this Monday (1st), former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) criticized the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and stated that agro “ it needs politicians who don’t get in the way”.

“I always said throughout my mandate: we are a great nation, we have everything to be a great power”, he said. “What does the agro need? You need politicians who don’t get in your way. This is what I did throughout my term with my ministers.”

Bolsonaro arrived at the event shortly before 11 am. In a São Paulo government auditorium at the event, he attacked the homologations of indigenous lands made by Lula, whom he referred to as “a citizen who is in the Presidential Palace”.

“You should know that there are 400 requests for the demarcation of indigenous lands and approximately 3,500 for new quilombolas in our country. And that guy said he would do his best to meet these communities’ desires. We know that if 10% are met, where will our agro? I pray to God that this does not happen, ”he said.

Bolsonaro still lamented the defeat in the 2022 elections. “Politics is like that. Things often happen, and we have to consider these events as a turning point in our lives. And our life continues until the day God calls us into eternity, ”he said.

“And we, while we are here on Earth, have to fight, since we are volunteers to be president, governor, deputy, councilor, so that our people really live a very comfortable situation.”

Despite this, in a conversation with journalists, he ruled out participating in the 2024 municipal elections. “There is still a long way to go. For now I don’t want to talk too much about politics. Collaborate only. I’m not going to be a candidate for anything next year, I don’t intend to, “he said, according to the Metrópoles portal.

On the 13th, the Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPE) spoke out in favor of the former president’s ineligibility in a lawsuit filed by the PDT at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Bolsonaro made the remarks in a space intended for the governor of the state, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), former Minister of Infrastructure in his government, after the opening of the fair, to which he had been invited, was canceled.

The decision to suspend the ceremony, which was originally scheduled for this Monday night, was taken after a malaise with the federal government generated by the confirmation of the presence of Bolsonaro (PL).

During the week, the president of Agrishow suggested that the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, attend the event on another date to avoid turmoil or embarrassment with the presence of the former president. Feeling discredited, Fávaro decided not to go to the event anymore.
