Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Thursday (29) upon landing in Rio de Janeiro, that he does not rule out supporting a possible candidacy of Michelle Bolsonaro. The former chief executive also said that he will be a good electoral force, in case he is considered ineligible.

“Of course he does support Michelle’s candidacy. If I’m out of the political game, I’ll be a good canvasser. There are several good names out there, but I believe until the last second in exemption and in a fair trial without revanchism on the part of the TSE”

said Bolsonaro.

The possibility of Bolsonaro’s ineligibility until 2030 opens up the dispute on the right for the estate of the former president. Names such as governors Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), from São Paulo, and Romeu Zema (Novo), from Minas Gerais, stand out as strong candidates to fill the void that could be left by the former head of the Executive. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), ‘son 01’; former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) and reserve general Walter Braga Netto, candidate for vice on the list defeated in the past elections, are also considered to replace the former president in the Bolsonarist group in 2026.

Amnesty

Bolsonaro cited the initiative of Bolsonarist deputies to try to amnesty him, in case of conviction in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The former president stated that the bill should be presented by next week: “amnesty is provided for in democratic regimes.”

Already anticipating the judgment of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) that may leave the former president ineligible for eight years, allies want to try to amnesty him. Deputy Sanderson (PL-RS) will present a bill for all politicians who committed electoral crimes in 2022.

In this scenario, all politicians who committed such crimes, with the exception of those who cannot be amnestied, terrorism, torture, racism and heinous crimes, would have their punishment annulled.

Bolsonaristas Camps

The former president returned to defend the demonstrators who camped in front of barracks across the country. According to Bolsonaro, “there were no leaders in the camps” and that the supporters “they were there in the barracks in an orderly manner and allowed by the Armed Forces”.

“They were elderly people with the Bible under their arm and the Brazilian flag on their back on the 8th of January. Some committed invasion, depredation, but never coup”

he said.

Bolsonaro again defended his statements against the electronic voting system.

“José Dirceu himself has already said that the TSE did not guarantee electronic voting. Talking about vaccines, voting, urns and the PL of Censorship has become a crime”

he said.
