Representatives of the Brazilian far right traveled to Argentina for the inauguration of the elected president
Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) participated in a meeting, this Friday (8), with the elected president of Argentina, Javier Milei. The former Brazilian head of state went with his entourage to the neighboring country on Thursday (7), including his son, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL).
Bolsonaro is in Argentina for Milei’s inauguration ceremony, which takes place next Sunday (10). Although he was accompanied by an extensive delegation of allies, only a few of them were able to participate in the private meeting with the future Argentine president.
The video released about the meeting shows Bolsonaro and Milei accompanied by the former Secretary of Communication of the Presidency Fabio Wajngarten, by Eduardo, and by the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto. Former Argentine Presidential candidate Patricia Bullrich, nominated by Milei to take over the Security portfolio, also took part in the meeting.
Bolsonaro received official invitations to the inauguration ceremony on Monday (4). The Argentine, in this way, maintained the invitation he made directly to the former president shortly after being elected.
Before boarding, the former president’s lawyers sent a petition to STF (Supreme Federal Court) minister Alexandre de Moraes to inform him that the former president would travel. In May, when he ordered a search and seizure at Bolsonaro’s house, the magistrate ordered the retention of his passport.
The document, however, was not taken by the police and is in the former president’s possession. To travel to Argentina, Bolsonaro does not need a passport. It is possible to enter the country with a Brazilian identity card (RG).
“In view of the ongoing investigations and with deep respect for this court, the petitioner [Jair Bolsonaro] It is hereby reported that he will be temporarily absent from the country in the period between December 7th and 11th,” said the petition.
The petition was signed by lawyers Paulo Bueno, Daniel Bettamio Tesser, Fabio Wajngarten, Saulo Segall, Thais de Vasconcelos Guimarães, Clayton Soares and Bianca Lima.
“The absence will be due to a trip to Buenos Aires, where he will participate in the inauguration ceremony of Javier Milei as President of Argentina, at the invitation of the president-elect himself”, he further stated.
