Bolsonaristas resume clash with left and try to cool division on right – 07/10/2023 – Politics

After the political clashes within the right, with part of Bolsonarism in opposition to the Tax Reform, the polarization with the left heated up again over the weekend.

Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) carried out an arms act in Brasília, when he attacked opponents and compared “indoctrinating professors” to drug traffickers.

The statements by son 03 of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) motivated reactions from representatives of the Lula government (PT) and his supporters in the National Congress this Monday (10).

Members of parties allied with the Planalto Palace sent representations to the STF (Federal Supreme Court) and to the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic).

“There is no difference between an indoctrinating teacher and a drug dealer who tries to kidnap and take our children to the world of crime”, said the former president’s son on Sunday during the act.

Afterwards, he stated that the “doctrinator” teacher is perhaps “even worse” than the drug dealer. “Because he will cause discord within your household, seeing oppression in every relationship.”

To the STF, the deputy Professor Luciene Cavalcante (PSOL-SP) stated that “the speech of the reported [Eduardo Bolsonaro] constitutes true hate speech against teachers, inciting listeners to attack and intimidate them, at an event promoting the carrying and possession of firearms”.

The parliamentarian understands that, “by inciting those present, favorable to the carrying and possession of firearms in a specific event to discuss its flexibility, to prevent teachers from teaching”, Eduardo can, in theory, be classified in the crimes of incitement to crime , threat and illegal embarrassment.

The request at the Supreme Court was distributed to Minister Kassio Nunes Marques, appointed to a seat on the court by the former president.

Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP), in turn, said that Eduardo’s speech cannot go unpunished and signaled that he should call the Chamber’s Ethics Committee with a request for his impeachment. “Brazil cannot normalize the behavior of this gang of militiamen!” he asserted.

In the Executive, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, ordered the Federal Police to investigate the case.

“The objective is to identify evidence of possible crimes, notably incitement or apology for criminal acts”, he wrote on social networks.

After the minister’s demonstration on Monday, the deputy said on social media that he is the target of political persecution by the current government.

“It is regrettable to see the Federal Police, an institution of which I am proudly a part, being used politically to satisfy the autocratic desires of communists, while real criminals do not seem to bother so much”, wrote the deputy, who before entering politics was a clerk for the corporation.

The parliamentarian also stated that it is “another step of the authoritarian escalation in Brazil”.

On Thursday (6), amid the discussion of the economic agenda in the Chamber, the Joint Parliamentary Front of Support for CACs (collectors, sport shooters and hunters) and shooting clubs was launched. Part of those present also participated in the armaments event this Sunday.

The segment seeks to strengthen itself in the National Congress in view of the weapons policy being implemented by the Lula government.

The new decree on weapons drawn up by the Ministry of Justice was sent to the Planalto Palace last month. Still being adjusted, the text should create a buy-back program to acquire weapons from CACs, restrict the use of rifles and establish that shooting clubs stay away from schools.

On Sunday (9), in the vicinity of the National Congress, parliamentarians and pro-gun activists promoted an act with speeches against Lula and his allies in Latin America.

“We know the story, from 2012 to 2013 they disarmed there. In 2016, Caracas became the capital of the country with the highest number of homicides proportionally”, said Eduardo Bolsonaro, from the top of a sound car.

“Sometimes, people make the mistake of thinking it’s Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq. No. Venezuela is the most violent country in the world. And Brazil is going to walk in that direction again. Unfortunately, there will be a lot of innocent life because the guys here at the Ministry of Justice don’t want to give all of us access to legitimate defense.”

By the new decree, the amount of weapons that the shooter can acquire will depend on his level. For the first level, there will be four allowed use. For the second, eight. And, for the last level, 16.

During the Bolsonaro government, shooters could buy up to 60 guns, 30 of which are restricted, in addition to 180,000 rounds of ammunition a year.

One of the most significant changes will be in supervision. The Federal Police is now responsible for granting registration and authorization for the acquisition of weapons from CACs, and also for inspecting shooting clubs and gun stores. Currently, this role falls entirely to the Army.

Jair Bolsonaro’s son also mentioned the CPI of January 8, underway in the National Congress.

“At the CPMI on January 8, I saw the [Movimento] Pro-Armas getting an attack, people trying to link Pro-Armas to January 8th. Do you know what that means. It means that you are doing a good job”, he said, referring to the members of the movement participating in the event.

The CPI meets this Tuesday (11) with the forecast of hearing one of the people closest to Bolsonaro, Army Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former assistant to the Presidency.

Cid has been in prison since May by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, as part of an investigation that investigates those responsible for the attacks on the headquarters of the three Powers.

The military’s cell phone had a document with a kind of coup plan to reverse Lula’s election last year.

Messages were also identified in which an Armed Forces officer asks the former aide to convince Bolsonaro to order a military intervention – which would constitute a coup d’état.

At the beginning of the month, three days after the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) declared him ineligible, Bolsonaro granted an interview and classified Cid’s arrest as arbitrary.
