Bolsonarista Zé Trovão participates in a meeting in Planalto and talks about ‘showing diplomacy’ – 03/07/2023 – Politics

The truck driver leader and Bolsonarist federal deputy Zé Trovão (PL-SC) provoked astonished looks from people who attend the Planalto Palace, this Tuesday morning (7), when he arrived for a meeting with members of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Silva (PT).

The parliamentarian participated in a breakfast promoted by Minister Alexandre Padilha (Secretary of International Relations) for new deputies from the South and Midwest regions.

Thunder briefly said that his presence was a way of “showing diplomacy among the powers that be”.

Zé Trovão arrived at the Planalto Palace more than an hour before the event, being the first of all the parliamentarians who would participate in the event with Padilha.

On leaving, the deputy initially stated that he would not grant interviews, because he is still facing the effects of the decision of the Federal Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

“I’m waiting for this order to be overturned, so that I can speak to the press. If not, it makes my life complicated,” he said.

Afterwards, asked only about the meeting with Padilha, if it had been positive, he replied that he had come to show respect between the powers that be and to be able to work.

“The meeting is a meeting in which we are trying to show diplomacy, have respect between the powers, make sure we can work. That was the intention of talking to Minister Padilha”, he said.

Zé Trovão arrived at Planalto with a very different look from the truck driver who gained notoriety in the country. He was wearing his traditional black hat, but he was also dressed in a smart gray suit and a trimmed beard.

The deputy was investigated and arrested in October 2021 for his participation in organizing anti-democratic acts, during the festivities of September 7. The Bolsonarist leader even escaped and took refuge in Mexico, before being arrested by the Federal Police.

His arrest was revoked months later, although he started using an electronic anklet.

In last year’s elections, he ended up elected deputy for Santa Catarina receiving 71,140 votes, which were raised even though Moraes was forbidden to access social networks.

After Jair Bolsonaro’s defeat by Lula, the then-elected deputy recognized the result of the polls and said it was time to “raise your head”.

“For us it was a defeat that saddens us a lot, it haunts us because we never imagined that the Brazilian people would choose, I will even use a biblical term, for Barrabás instead of the Messiah. That was a big surprise. But, as I always do I say, it’s time to dust off your boots, lift your head,” he told Sheet, one day after the second round.
