BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) will provide BRL 200 million for infrastructure and sustainable mobility under the Rota 2030 program, created by the federal government in 2018 to support technological development, competitiveness, innovation, energy efficiency and the quality of automobiles.

The funds are non-reimbursable and should be earmarked for investments in the production of hybrid cars, electric buses and related products.

As the Panel showed, the BNDES is also studying a project to create a line of credit for companies that produce or are interested in producing electric buses in Brazil.

The bank, commanded by Aloizio Mercadante, has shown growth in disbursements to the industry.

In the first half of 2023, the disbursement was BRL 4.7 billion against BRL 3.4 billion last year (38% growth), not counting export financing. With them in the calculation, the difference was R$ 7.4 billion in 2023, against 5.6 billion in 2022 (32% variation).
