‘Blind Wedding’ participant is sued by the show’s producer after saying she suffered abuse during recording

According to “Variety” magazine, Renne Poche was the target of a lawsuit filed by Delirium TV, producer of the reality show, after making public comments about an abusive relationship in which she was allegedly part of the program. The company asked for US$4 million for breach of confidentiality agreement. She then got the help of two well-known Hollywood lawyers to file her own lawsuit against the production company and Netflix, the streaming platform responsible for the exhibition. Poche is asking for her contract to be void and says she was the victim of intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of several California labor and civic codes. “My experience on ‘The Blind Date’ was traumatic,” she told the magazine. “I felt like a prisoner and didn’t receive any help when I let Delirium know I didn’t feel safe. I tried to deal with these emotions over time and eventually felt I needed to share what happened. I felt the right thing to do was to let others people to know the truth behind what everyone in the cast had to endure.” In October 2023, Tran Dang, who also participated in the fifth season, sued production companies Kinetic Content and Delirium TV for negligence over allegations of sexual abuse and false imprisonment. Poche’s case Poche was recruited by a casting agent for the show via Instagram in November 2021. After a long selection process, the American veterinarian joined the other 29 participants to begin filming in April 2022. She says that, on the first night, the production took her cell phone, passport and driver’s license and kept her locked in a hotel room, from which she could only leave accompanied by a member of the team. On the program, she became involved with Carter Wall, a man described as “without money, unemployed, homeless, violent and addicted to amphetamines and alcohol” by the report. Poche claims that she was forced to spend long periods alone with him, and that he was abusive to her in front of and away from the cameras. When recording ended, she ended her relationship with Wall and made public comments about the experience. For this, she was sued by Delirium. The couple was cut from the season, which premiered in September 2023.
