The marathon of large concerts and festivals and the resumption of in-person events and corporate travel have increased the average price of accommodation in some of the largest capitals in the country.

According to a survey by Onfly, a travel and expense management startup, the average daily rate for accommodation in São Paulo, which in 2022 cost BRL 290, this year already reaches BRL 572 – an increase of 97.24%. The study compared average prices recorded by city from January 1, 2022 to June 1, 2022 with the same period this year.

In Curitiba, the increase was 62.01% (from R$ 179 to R$ 290); in Belo Horizonte, 36.07% (from R$ 183 to R$ 249). Finally, comes Rio de Janeiro, which registered a change of 14.57%, going from R$ 254 to R$ 291.

“We had a series of large events in São Paulo, as well as the return of large international shows and music festivals. This, added to the general increase in business trips, causes the occupancy rate of hotels in the capitals to grow”, explains Marcelo Linhares, CEO of Onfly.
